God grafted us into Christ. We are supported and nourished by Jesus. He is the root of the vine to which we have been grafted. He sustains us every day and through every trial.
“And if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and with them became a partaker of the root and fatness of the olive tree, do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast, remember that you do not support the root, but the root supports you.” Romans 11:17-18 (NKJV)
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in Me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” John 15:5 (NIV)
Because God is Abba Father, we are His sons and daughters. Therefore, we should “Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted us, in order to bring praise to God.” Romans 15:7 (NKJV) The heavenly Father loves us in spite of our flaws and He expects us to love one another despite our shortcomings. If we are to remain united with the Lord, we must be one with Him in spirit.
“God predestined us to adoption, as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will.” Ephesians 1:5 (NKJV)
Jesus is living waters. He quenches our thirst, satisfies our longings, and provides moisture for our spiritual garden. He waters the seeds we sow and brings forth fruit from our labors.
“But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” John 4:14 (NKJV)
“The LORD will guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.” Isaiah 58:11 (NKJV)
God is our Shepherd. He calls each of us by name because He knows us personally. In turn, we recognize His voice. When we go astray and need His help returning to the path of life we run to Him. As our Good Shepherd, we can trust Him to guide us to safety.
“I am the good shepherd, and I know My sheep, and am known by My own.
John 10:14 (NKJV)
With His death on the cross, we receive eternal life, if we believe in His resurrection and deity. Our sins are forgiven time and time again if true repentance lives in our heart. We are a new creation because He lived, died, and rose again.
“Knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him.” Romans 6:6-8 (NKJV)
In the eyes of God, we are His own special people. We are royalty for our adopted father is the King of Kings. Created in His image, we are meant to proclaim His praises. Through worship, we will honor Him throughout eternity
“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” 1 Peter 2:9 (NKJV)
Before we knew Jesus, we were lost and blind. We were filthy in our sins and unworthy of life. Because God is all about grace and mercy, He willingly washed us clean by the blood of His Son. We belong to the one true God. We are His treasure, His beloved.
Is HE our treasure? Is HE our most precious possession, our beloved? Because He lives, I have a tomorrow. Because He lives, I have eternity.
