Everyone knows that there is a God, although atheists would argue this point. The truth is that God placed a “knowing” inside each one of us.

“Because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse.” Romans 1:19-20 (NKJV)

The complexity of our planet and universe points to a deliberate designer. For example: The Earth is a perfect size. Gravity holds a thin layer of mostly nitrogen and oxygen gases and extends about 50 miles above the earth’s surface. If Earth were smaller, an atmosphere would be impossible. Additionally, Earth is the perfect distance from the sun. If Earth were any closer or further away we would either freeze or burn up. The moon is the perfect size and distance from Earth for its gravitational pull, which creates ocean waves that do not spill over across our continents.

“I have made the earth, and created man on it. I—My hands—stretched out the heavens, and all their host I have commanded.” Isaiah 45:12 (NKJV)

“For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.” Colossians 1:16 (NKJV)

Consider the orbits of the eight planets circling our sun. The Bible teaches that the universe obeys physical laws—“the ordinances of heaven and earth” (Jeremiah 33:25). The universe is neither haphazard nor arbitrary; nature conforms to logical, mathematical relationships set in place by the Lord. The laws of physics and chemistry are examples of these ordinances of heaven and earth. The precision of the planets as they orbit the sun is due to their strict obedience to God’s ordinances. The stars and planets are never late nor are they early. They do not fail to appear in their proper place at the proper time (Isaiah 40:26).

God is actively involved in holding our universe together. He did not create mankind and all that we know, to only make a grand exit and forget about us. We are not orphans! We are children of the one and only true God and He keeps watch over us.

“The earth and all its inhabitants are dissolved; I set up its pillars firmly. Selah.”
Psalm 75:3 (NKJV)

“The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”
Psalm 121:8 (NIV)
The Bible indicates that the universe has been “stretched out” or expanded. Most astronomers today believe that the universe is expanding. In the 1920s, astronomers discovered that virtually all clusters of galaxies appear to be moving away from all other clusters; this indicates that the entire universe is expanding. The following scripture would suggest that the universe has actually increased in size since its creation.

“He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in.” Isaiah 40:22 (NIV)

There are many scientist and intellectuals who believe in the Big Bang theory. The theory states that our universe came into existence due to one enormous explosion of energy and light. But where did the initial energy and light come from? I believe the Bible gives us the answer. The initial energy and light came from the one and only true God.

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.
Then God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.” Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. So the evening and the morning were the second day.” Genesis 1:1-8 (NKJV)
The Bible provides many more scientific examples validating His title: Creator of the universe. But, even though God placed knowledge of Him in the heart of every man, there are many who are deceived. Faith is necessary to believe in an unseen God. Without faith it is impossible to please Him and so, continue to pray for the lost and share the good news. Point unbelievers to scientific truths and any other resource within your reach. “For death is the destiny of everyone; the living should take this to heart.” Ecclesiastes 7:2b (NIV)

“Because, although they knew good, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man-and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. Therefore, God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves.” Romans 1:21-24 (NKJV)
