Phil Fischer with Jesus Lives – A Devotion on “God Upholds Us”
We are living through difficult, strange, and unique times. The world of politics has exposed the schemes of the devil and politicians are showing their true colors. However, we are not to put our hope in man or political institutions. It is in God alone that we must trust. He is an ever-present tower of safety, a promise-keeper, and a faithful and loving Father.
“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV)
God never asks anything of us where provision has not already been made. We are equipped to live through these dark and turbulent times. Furthermore, He commands us not to fear and exhorts us to not be dismayed. Merriam-Webster defines dismay as times when we lose courage or resolution because of alarm or fear. We must remain brave! God will strengthen and fortify us so we can remain steadfastly minded, bold, and alert.
Will you take hold of Isaiah 41:10 and grasp the meaning, both mentally and spiritually? Lay aside all fear and dread. Allow God to fortify your very being and instill a great determination to stand your ground and advance against the enemy. Remember, we are fighting principalities, spiritual powers, rulers of darkness, and against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly realm. Dress yourself in the armor of Christ and use your spiritual sword (The Word of God) to intercede for America. These dark spirits are attacking our government, families, churches, educational system, and economy. Violence and wickedness continue to increase along with deceit. This is because the enemy is spreading his lies. He is, Afterall, the father of all lies!
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV)
“You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” John 8:44 (NIV)
Now, think on this dear friend. How can a lie spread if nobody is around to listen to the lie? But, even if the lie is heard, with the help of the Holy Spirit it can be cast aside and trample thanks to spiritual discernment. This means we must become warriors. Complacency is not an option for we are ALL CALLED to fight the good fight.
Now ask yourself this: How can I spur others on in this fight? How can I effectively tear down principalities of darkness? I say to you, PRAY! Pray with the power of God and in the name of Jesus Christ. Though you may not see results with your fleshly eyes, I assure you the prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. There is a positive result every time we pray. Our God is a loving Father and as a good parent, He wants to encourage us with a hope for the future. Stand firm in your faith. Do not let the evil one rob you of peace and hope.
“Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” James 5:16 (NIV)
“The seventy-two returned with joy and said, ‘Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.’” Luke 10:17 (NIV)
